Wedding Celebration at The Trellis | Zoe + Schuyler

The trellis venue

After eloping in 2024, Zoe and Schuyler celebrated with a post-wedding party at The Trellis.

About the Bride and Groom

The bride and groom met in Portland, Oregon, in 2015 while attending college. Zoe says they have “been together ever since”. In 2017, the pair moved to Washington, D.C., where they got engaged in 2023. They then decided to elope in Maine in 2024.

The newlyweds chose Labor Day weekend to celebrate their elopement. This worked best for their friends and family and provided an extra day to recuperate after the weekend merriment. They also knew they wanted to celebrate in the mountains… so enter The Trellis.

The Trellis ended up being the perfect venue as it provided lodging for guests traveling, and was available for the whole weekend. The couple also praised the venue for its affordability and flexibility — like not needing a caterer or bartender.

Guests raved about the venue, mentioning how impressed they were. The couple used the main house to bring everyone together for breakfast. Zoe said, “It was so lovely to have the suite in the main house to get ready with my girlfriends.” Everyone also loved having their own cabins. “Guests could take naps or sit in a rocking chair on the porch between events, but they were never more than a couple of minutes away!”

The bride and groom took inspiration from summers in the Pacific Northwest, where the bride is from, and where the couple met. They used pastels in natural colors with additional pops of seafoam and emerald green. The couple also used their elopement pictures as inspo for their place settings and florals.

The bride did most of the decorating herself. Zoe and her stepmother became ‘DIY’ experts and got creating. They used flowers from Trader Joe’s, mini champagne bubbles from Dollar Tree, and picture frames from Goodwill. The couple also incorporated the Polaroids from their elopement into the table decor.

For their elopement, Zoe and Schuyler got matching capybaras from Build-a-Bear that were dressed in wedding outfits. They knew they wanted to incorporate these into their cake toppers. So, Zoe ordered mini capybara figurines and created a veil and bow tie to top them off.

“Our guests said the whole day really felt like us.”
